What sets the price
Appliances are heavy for their size, and they're usually in the back of the house. Weight and the carry matter most.
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which appliance | A fridge, a chest freezer, a washer and a stove each take different space and weight. |
| How many | One pickup can take several. Each pickup starts at $190, so grouping them helps. |
| Where it sits | Kitchen, laundry room, garage or an upstairs unit. |
| The carry | Doorways, tight turns, steps and a long walk to the truck. |
| Disconnection | It needs to be unplugged and disconnected from water and gas before we arrive. We handle the carry out and haul-away. |
| Parking | A driveway, a street spot or a building loading area. |

Before pickup day
Unplug the appliance and disconnect water and gas lines before the crew arrives. If you're not comfortable doing that, have a plumber or appliance tech do it first.
Empty the fridge, freezer and washer. Water heaters need to be disconnected too.
How cities handle fridges and other appliances
Many city bulky programs take appliances, but several have rules for refrigerators and anything with refrigerant. If you're going the city route, check yours.
- Long Beach: refrigerators and freezers must have doors removed or taped shut, and a regulatory fee may be charged for special-handling items like appliances.
- Commerce: appliances are accepted with fridge doors taped.
- Rosemead: appliances must be tagged refrigerant-free.
- San Dimas: freon appliances need the freon removed by a certified person first.
- Garden Grove: items with CFCs or Freon, like fridges and air conditioners, carry a small fee for recovery.
- Tustin: bulky items containing Freon are collected at no charge.

What hauling it yourself costs
If you have a truck, two facilities publish appliance prices. Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Sylmar takes appliances for recycling only at $115 each, on rates the page lists as of July 1, 2024. Republic's Huntington Beach transfer station lists single items under 500 pounds at $46.94, on its rate sheet effective Jan 1, 2025.
Call ahead; rate sheets change, and both list other rules for self-haul loads.

Ways to keep the price down
An appliance job is mostly weight and the carry. A few things still help.
- Group appliances into one pickup. Each pickup starts at $190, so the old washer and dryer go best with the fridge.
- Clear the path from the appliance to the door.
- Have it unplugged and disconnected before the crew arrives.
- Check your city's rules first if you can get it to the curb yourself.
What to send in your photos
A couple of photos is usually enough for an appliance.
Text them to (562) 219-9266. We text back an estimate. Your quote covers what's in your photos; if more items are added on pickup day, the price is adjusted for them.
- The appliance from the front, with something for scale
- Where it sits, and the path to the door
- Any steps on the way out
- Where the truck can park
- Anything else going in the same trip
