Piano Removal Cost in LA and Orange County

Guide · Nov 6, 2026

The short answer

Piano removal with Roa Solution Junk Removal starts at $190. We take upright, large upright, baby grand and grand pianos, and each one is priced from photos: one of the piano and one of the path out to the street. Weight, the carry and where the truck can park set the price, and we never quote a guaranteed total.

What sets the price of piano removal?

A piano is a small item that weighs like a big one. That's why it isn't priced like a couch of the same size.

Every Roa price comes from the same five things: truck space, type of material, weight, access and labor. For a piano, weight and access do most of the work.

FactorWhy it matters for a piano
WeightPianos are dense. Weight is part of every price, and it's the main one here.
TypeWe take upright, large upright, baby grand and grand pianos. A photo usually shows which one you have.
The path outDoorways, tight hallways, turns and any steps between the piano and the street.
Distance to the truckA long walk from the room to where the truck parks adds labor.
ParkingA driveway, a street spot or a building loading area changes the carry.
Other itemsA bench, a stool or other furniture in the same trip uses truck space.

What to send in your photos

Two kinds of photos set a piano price: the piano itself and the way out. Here's what to include.

Text them to (562) 219-9266. We text back an estimate. Your quote covers what's in your photos; if more items are added on pickup day, the price is adjusted for them.

  • The whole piano, front and side, so we can see its type and size
  • The bench and anything stacked on top
  • The path from the piano to the front door: hallways, doorways and turns
  • Any steps or thresholds on the way out, inside or outside
  • Where the truck can park, and how far that is from the door
  • Your city and which floor the piano is on

Will my city's bulky pickup take a piano?

Often not, so check before you wait for a date. Several LA County programs name pianos as items they won't collect.

City programs also collect from the curb, not from inside. Torrance's crews don't collect from private property, and Long Beach's can't go onto it, so items have to be moved out first. A piano the people in the house can't move safely isn't a curbside item. If your city takes it and you can get it out there, that's the cheaper route.

  • Torrance: the Large Item Pick Up won't take items that need more than two people, and names spas, hot tubs, pianos and organs.
  • Carson: the WM guide lists spas, pianos and camper shells as not accepted, along with anything that takes more than two people to lift.
  • Gardena: the WM guide has the same exclusion for spas, pianos and camper shells.

How the pickup goes

Once you have a price and pick a day, the crew comes in, carries the piano out from the room it's in, loads it on the trailer and hauls it away. You don't need to move it first. Same-day or next-day pickup depends on availability.

Clear what you can on the path: rugs, plants and small tables. Unlock gates, and tell us about any building rules, like elevator hours or a loading area.

Thinking about selling it or giving it away first? Our how-to guide covers the other options.

Ways to keep the price down

A piano job is mostly weight and the carry, but a few things still help.

  • Send clear photos of the path out, so the estimate matches the job.
  • Add other items to the same trip. Each pickup starts at $190, so one visit for the piano and the rest usually makes more sense than two.
  • Clear the path before the crew arrives.
  • Check your city's list first if you can get the piano to the curb yourself.

Questions

How much does it cost to remove a piano?

Piano removal starts at $190. The exact price comes from photos of the piano and the path out, because weight and access change the work. We never guarantee a final total over the phone.

What kinds of pianos do you take?

Upright, large upright, baby grand and grand pianos. We take them apart when they won't fit through the door, and stairs cost extra. Send a photo and we'll confirm.

Can you price a piano without photos?

Not well. Photos of the piano and of the path out to the street are what we price from. Text them to (562) 219-9266(562) 219-9266.

Is the bench part of the price?

Yes, if it's in your photos. Anything added on the day is priced on top.

Will the city pick up my piano?

Check your city's list. Torrance, Carson and Gardena name pianos as items their bulky pickups won't take, and city crews collect from the curb, not from inside the house.
