The short answer
Junk removal takes almost anything you can lift and don't want: furniture, mattresses, appliances, household junk, garage contents, yard debris, remodel debris, and hot tubs or sheds once they're taken down. Roa Solution Junk Removal does not take hazardous waste: paint, chemicals, solvents, asbestos, medical waste or propane tanks. For those, check your city or county household hazardous waste program. Heavy material like concrete, dirt and rock gets priced from photos first.
What we take
If it's junk and it isn't hazardous, we probably take it. The crew carries it out from wherever it sits: inside the house, upstairs, the garage, the side yard or the backyard. You don't need to drag anything to the curb. Single items and full loads are both normal jobs for us.
Here's what we haul most often:
- Furniture: couches, sectionals, dressers, beds, desks, dining sets, recliners
- Mattresses, box springs and bed frames
- Fridges, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers and microwaves
- Water heaters, once they're disconnected
- TVs, computers, monitors and printers
- Household junk, boxes and bags
- Garage and storage contents: bins, shelving, tools, bikes, exercise equipment
- Yard debris: branches, trimmings, green waste, old fencing and patio furniture
- Construction and remodel debris: lumber, drywall, cabinets, tile, flooring, roofing debris
- Hot tubs, sheds and playhouses, taken down first
- Office furniture, cubicle panels and filing cabinets
- Pianos and BBQ grills
Single items, full rooms, whole properties
One couch is a job. So is a whole house. You don't need a minimum pile to call. Single items are part of what we do, and pricing starts at $250.
On the bigger end, we do full property cleanouts: estates, tenant move-outs, hoarding cleanouts, garages, apartments, offices, warehouses and job sites. Larger projects get an estimate first, from photos or an on-site visit.
We also take things down before we haul them. Hot tubs get drained and cut into pieces. Sheds and playhouses get broken down. Small, non-structural tear-outs like old kitchens, decks and patio covers are part of the work too, with the debris hauled away and the area cleaned up.
What we ask about first
Some things we take, but we need to see them before we give you a number. They're heavy, they need prep on your end, or the job is bigger than it looks.
None of this means no. It means we want to price it right and make sure the job is ready when the crew shows up. A fridge that's still hooked up, or a hot tub that still has power, holds up everyone.
Text photos of any of these to (562) 219-9266 and we'll tell you what's possible.
- Concrete, dirt, brick and rock: heavy, so they're priced from photos
- Appliances: unplug them and disconnect water and gas before we arrive
- Hot tubs: have an electrician disconnect the power first
- In-ground spas: send photos first
- Concrete slabs and shed foundations: send photos so we can tell you what's possible
- Structural walls or anything that needs a permit: ask first
- Small demolition: utilities must be shut off before we start
What we don't take
We don't handle hazardous waste. That's a firm line, not a price question. If it's on this list, leave it out of the pile and out of your photos.
Hazardous items need their own drop-off, and the people who run those programs know what to do with them. We don't. So we won't load them, even mixed into a bigger pile. If one turns up during a cleanout, we leave it out of the load for you to take to the right place.
- Paint
- Chemicals
- Solvents
- Asbestos
- Medical waste
- Propane tanks
Where hazardous items go instead
Check your city or county household hazardous waste program. In LA County, Public Works runs a free Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection Program for items that can't go in the regular trash. Its page lists collection centers and upcoming collection events.
The county's program covers things labeled toxic, flammable or corrosive, plus old electronics, batteries, cleaning supplies and certain light bulbs. Its listed collection programs include paint, household batteries, used motor oil, sharps, pharmaceuticals and reusable 1 lb. propane cylinders. The same page says solar panels aren't accepted at its events or centers.
In Orange County, OC Waste & Recycling runs four household hazardous waste collection centers, in Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Irvine and San Juan Capistrano. Its site says they're free for Orange County residents.
Hours, locations and accepted items change, so check the program's own page before you load up the car. If you're not sure where to start, ask us when you text and we'll point you to the right program.
Why the city bulky pickup won't take everything either
If you're in Pasadena, the city's bulky pickup is worth knowing about. Pasadena Public Works says single-family residents can schedule two free bulky-item pickups a year by appointment.
The city lists what it won't take on those pickups: household hazardous waste, electronic waste, computers, construction materials, dirt, sand, large tree limbs and tree stumps. It also means you carry everything out yourself.
That's where we come in. We take the remodel debris, the electronics and the stuff still sitting in the back bedroom, and we do the carrying.
How pricing works for what we take
Pricing starts at $250. The price depends on how much truck space your items take, the type of material, its weight, how easy it is to reach, and the labor involved.
When it makes sense, the crew breaks bulky items down so they take less room in the truck, so you pay for less space. We never guarantee a final total over the phone. Text photos and we'll text back an estimate.
Mixed loads are fine
Most pickups aren't one kind of thing. A garage cleanout might be furniture, a dead freezer, boxes, a bike and a pile of leftover drywall. That's all one job. You don't need to sort by type.
The only sorting we ask for is the hazardous items, plus anything you're keeping. Pull those out, and leave the rest where it is. The crew carries it out, loads it and cleans up after.
How to get a price
Text photos of everything that needs to go, plus your city, to (562) 219-9266. Include a shot of where it sits and anything on the ask-first list.
Your quote covers what's in your photos. If more items are added on pickup day, the price is adjusted for them. Same-day or next-day pickup depending on availability.
