The short answer
LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) picks up bulky items for single-family homes and small apartment buildings (generally up to 4 units) on City trash service. Pickup is unlimited, at no additional charge, and happens on your regular trash day. Request it at least one business day before your collection day and have a list of your items ready.

Sources disagree: LASAN's bulky-item page lists TVs, computers and monitors as accepted; the same page also defines bulky items as non-electronic. Confirm with LASAN before you set anything out.

When the city pickup doesn’t fit
The program works when the items are at the curb and can wait for the pickup day. If they're still inside, upstairs or in the backyard, you're over the limit, or you need them gone sooner, we carry them out and haul them away. Pricing starts at $190; see junk removal in Los Angeles or single-item pickup.
